Sized at 18 inches x 18 inches, each puzzle in this series features an original design inspired by influential art movements of the 20th century. The below description is the brief history found on the back of the box.
Bauhaus was a German school of art, design and architecture, whose ideology influenced the modern art world forever. Founded in 1919, the school championed a new approach that combined fine art, craftsmanship, and technology, to be applied to a broad range of artistic expressions including painting, sculpture, architecture, film photography, textiles, ceramics, theater, and installation. The movement attempted to bridge the gap between fine art, which was losing its purpose in society, and the soullessness of mass manufacturing. Walter Gropious, the school’s founder, wanted to integrate art into the landscape of the rapidly evolving modern world, while using materials in their truest form. Bauhaus gathered a community with utopian ideals for the future, counting such artists as Josef Albers, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, and Johannes Itten among its ranks.
